The Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) is a university-wide center based in Cambridge involving multiple entities within the Harvard academic and medical community. The Initiative combines expertise in public health, medicine, social science, and humanities to advance research, practice, and policy in the field of humanitarian assistance to populations affected by war and disaster.

The Feinstein International Center is based at Tufts University in the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and is affiliated with the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. From their Medford, MA campus, the Center strives to improve the lives and livelihoods of communities caught up in complex emergencies, war, and other crises. Their research focuses on the politics and policy of aiding the vulnerable, on protection and rights in crisis situations, and on the restoration of lives and livelihoods.
